Back when the cats took over my business, I began meeting all kinds of cat lovers with all kinds of cats. Those who had black cats noticed none had been represented in my drawings, and asked why. I responded by admitting that I didn't know any black cats. I asked those folks what black cats were like and how they envisioned them portrayed in my art. They shrugged their shoulders and said., "They just sit there."

I had a hunch that there was more to a black cat than that! Soon afterword, my husband and I were adopted by an almost back cat (Lily wore a small white diamond on her neck and had white toes), but in her heart of hearts, she KNEW she was a black cat. One day, while sketching at our fabled picnic table, I saw her coming through the ivy, prowling like a little black panther. I suddenly knew what a black cat was!

Within this drawing, i've included what I call "kitty big game" for this little panther to hunt: a dragon fly, a lady bug, three lizards, a flock of birds, and a school of fish. With a little imagination and some adjustment to your sense of sight, you may be able to find them, too!

"A Walk on the Wild Side" was created in 1989 as an original colored pencil drawing and published in a limited edition of 800 offset lithographs. They are printed on archival paper with fade resistant inks. Each print measures 14" x 18", is hand signed and numbered in pencil by the Artist, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Unframed.

The original colored pencil drawing has been SOLD.
