I love drawing flowers almost as much as I love drawing cats! In 2012, my iris gardens produced over 400 blooms with lots of different colors! One of my favorite varieties is called Beverly Sills, after the great operatic soprano. The bloom is a showy peach fleur-de-lis with a golden glow around bright orange beards. It is sweet smelling and sparkles like sugar in the sun. When spring comes to my valley, the "Bevs" are some of the first flowers to bud, and each plant produces bunches of flowers. I just had to draw them...

It was Java Bean (our black dude) and Gracie (Java's Siamese cat) who would hang out in the garden with me, playing while I cleared away the winter leaves. They were inseparable best of buddies! They helped me keep count of all those blooms...

Later that spring, I met my first Havana Brown, a magnificent chocolate "pussonalitiy" with the deepest green eyes I'd ever seen! I was also listening to the many cat lovers requesting gray cats. So instead of drawing Java and Grace in my garden, I chose these two "buds". (I do apologize to my cats when I don't use them in my drawings, explaining the situation. They usually give me their lick of approval.)

"Buds" is a Giclee Reproduction, limited to 250 in the edition. The print measures 10" x 19", is hand signed and numbered in pencil, and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. Unframed.
